ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS PARISH (Cahayag, Tubigon, 6329 Bohol
Bohol is a peaceful province, it has a town called Tubigon, a prominent town because of its progress. Its progress was because of its developing barangay. Of all barangay of Tubigon, Cahayag is considered one of the factor development because of the location. It is the center and strategic site for business establishment, and because of its business growth a public market, public National High School and barangay Health Center was created. From Cahayag to town proper of Tubigon more or less 8 to 9 kilometers to travel it would surely cost time to travel just to attend mass in Tubigon or any committed appointments.
Due to religiosity and energetic minds among 9 leaders-barangay chairmen of 9 barangays namely: 1. Pandan; 2. Cahayag; 3. Panaytayon; 4. Matabao; 5. Villanueva; 6. Panadtaran; 7. Banlasan; 8. Ilijan Norte; 9. Ilijan Sur. These 9 barangays with full support of its constituents had a concerted efforts and decided of having church of their own, in which Cahayag was chosen being the center most part for its location. A kind hearted man of Cahayag in the name of Attorney Roque Luspo who heartily donated of his land for the church site and with the blessings of the Diocese of Tagbilaran, barangay Cahayag was lighted with rays from heaven because of the fulfillment of dreams had come to reality through the help also from good parishioner who are working inside and outside the country for their financial support. The church was created last April 1988 and it was founded by Msgr. Camilo Auza.
